Image
Aloha TOP Nation, They may have lived larger than life, but how grand were they in death. This week we will be bringing you a new style of continuous blog. Where we will do our best to highlight a memorial of famous or infamous persons. We will be posting several times a week so be sure to stay tuned. No person is off limits. Covering everyone and anyone such as Carlos Santana or Carl Marx. If we can locate the site of their lasting legacy, we will post it. Want to see a particular person? Or have you visited an impressive memorial? Please comment and share. Respectfully,  Mr. Tyler Westphal Lincoln Tomb, Springfield, Illinois. Qingming smugglers

Image
Aloha TOP readers, This week, (technically April, 5h) is the semiannual celebration of QINGMING! This is an eastern holiday celebrated mostly in China, but also in other Asian countries. In eastern cultures, one's ancestors are held in high esteem. Twice a year family will travel to their ancestor's gravesite to clear away the vegetation and tidy up the memorial. It is also customary for the family elders to share stories about the elders who have passed to the youth of the family to pass on their heritage. Qingming is known most for the practice of burning offerings to the ancestors of the past. It is believed that that fire is the vehicle used for any gifts or offerings given to transport the offerings to the afterlife. The family will burn food, tea, drink, cigarettes, incense, and even money! Not real money of course, but high demonization ceremonial money. This is a joyous celebration lasting 2-3 days that could be compared to the American Memorial D...

Pyrophobia (fear of fire)? Consider Aquafication.

Image
Aloha TOP community, If you are not a fan of the flames, perhaps you would prefer cremations liquid alternative, Aquafication. Terry Regnier PhD. of the Mayo Clinic and his team have developed a way to complete the same cremation process using water. The hydroprocessing consumes 1/12th the amount of energy of flame-based cremation and drastically reduces carbon pollution. When complete, all bones remain clean and pure white. The reason Aquafication entices me is that there is no need for surgery, to remove any surgical implants or metals before the Aquafication. It is standard procedure in the cremation process to surgically remove all surgically implanted objects to protect the furnace from damage. The process does take longer. However, I believe it is worth the wait. Thank you for reading and please comment below to let me know what you think of the eco-friendly Aquafication alternative. Respectfully, Tyler Westphal

120 Day Mummy

Hello TOP Community, Today, we showcase a modern revival of an ancient technique. A small company Summum Mummification of Transference based in Salt Lake City, UT has replicated the Ancient Egyptian art of mummification. The devoted owner Ra "Corky" underwent mummification when he passed in 2008. Summum mummification process has given a modern update to the ancient burial practice using chemicals from genetic engineering and organ transplant to best preserve DNA. The result is a lifelike look that lasts for eternity. How do they do it? Here is in eight simple steps: Step 1: Cleanse the body and remove the organs Step 2: Cleanse the organs and place back into the body Step 3: Soak the body for 77 days to one year Step 4: Cleanse the body and apply lotion Step 5: Wrap the body in cotton Step 6: Coat body in polyurethane Step 7: Seal body in bronze or stainless steel coffin Step 8: Store coffin in a dry place protected from frost If becoming a modern-d...
